Notes of interest from Sunday's action:

Streak stoppers
Detroit went on a 16-3 run to close out a 56-50 win over Wisconsin-Green Bay in the Midwestern Collegiate Conference semifinals and stop the nation's second-longest winning streak. Green Bay had won 23 consecutive games coming into the contest, a mark bested only by Kentucky's 25 straight. The Fighting Phoenix hope their 16-0 MCC regular season record will earn them a ticket to the NCAA tournament.

Cowboys tame the Tigers, finally
With a 51-49 win over Missouri, Oklahoma State broke an 0-for-18 stretch in Missouri. The win evened the Cowboys' Big Eight record at 7-7.

A wreck that doesn't need fixing
Georgia Tech clinched its first-ever outright ACC title with an 87-74 win over Clemson. The Yellow Jackets finished the ACC regular season with a 13-3 record, their best mark since 1986 when an 11-3 record placed them behind Duke in the ACC standings.

Line you may have missed
Boston University junior Tunji Awojobi led the Terriers over Maine 66-64 in a North Atlantic Conference game. The 6-foot-7 forward led all scorers with 28 points on 12-of-22 shooting in 36 minutes. He was also a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line.

Ebbing
After taking a 76-48 thrashing from Gonzaga, Pepperdine fell to 10-18 on the year. While the eighth-seeded Waves did upset top-seed Santa Clara in the first round of the West Coast Conference tournament, interim coach Marty Wilson led his team to a dismal 3-10 record.

Purple rain
Niagara falls -- literally. In their 70-47 loss to Fairfield in the Metro Athletic Conference semifinals, the Purple Eagles sunk to some new shooting lows. At the half, Niagara was 5-of-29 from the field, including 0-for9 from 3-point range.

Forty-year itch
It has taken 40 years for a basketball team to run the SEC table. With Kentucky's 101-63 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday, the Wildcats won their 25th straight game and brought their conference record to 16-0.

Not quite 40 years
Purdue's 15-2 Big Ten record -- after a 79-56 win over Northwestern -- earned the Boilermakers a third straight conference title. The last team to accomplish the feat was Ohio State, 34 years ago.
